The design of ducts is to design the connecting ducts between the blower to air outlets, and the total wind volume is estimated based on wind volumes required for the different environments such as space, humans, or pollutants for calculating the wind volume for each outlet. When taking the balance among wind speed at the outlet into consideration, split rate and pressure drops into account in the actual duct design, the proportion of the outlet area can be one of the key adjustment parameters for the balance design.

However, the wind volume obtained at each outlet tends to fail the requirements, the duct sizes are repetitively modified and calculated. The styles of ducts in the past are quite the same, and the design can be completed quickly with seasoned designers. However, with more air outlets and diversification requirements, currently the designs are difficult to complete with experience only. The computation assisted by professional software is required to simulate the air inlet design for calculating various characteristics of the ducts during the process of transmitting cool air, and such characteristics are discussed as the references for duct design.
